ASP
English presentation of the enterprise.
ASP - the Association for the Promotion of the Scientific and Technological Development of Piedmont - was established in 1988 with the aim of stimulating cooperation between research bodies and companies, thus fostering the scientific and technological potential of the Piedmont region.
Over twenty years ASP has provided more than 300 research grants, used in sectors of excellence in collaboration with the universities of Piedmont and prestigious research institutes, including CERN in Geneva.
ASP operates in three areas:
- Education
- Innovation
- Dissemination
Research
ASP evaluates projects proposed by lecturers and researchers working in research centres, universities and companies.
The aim of the projects, with funding granted via public announcement, is to contribute to the training of young researchers by promoting technological/scientific innovation and hence the development of the regional area.
Research sectors supported by ASP:
- Superconductivity and cryogeny (CERN)
- Particles detectors
- Biomedicine
- Radiotherapy
- Microelectronics
- Nanotechnology
RESEARCH PROJECTS
Who can apply
Italian and foreign researchers under the age of 30 who undertake to carry out a research project at one of our Piedmont-based partner bodies or at foreign research centres of international renown, such as CERN, which ASP has a collaboration programme with.
Duration and amount
The study grants provided by ASP are one-year grants. The amounts awarded are comparable to doctorate grants awarded by universities (for new graduates) and research fellowships (for postdoc research).
How to apply
Lecturers, researchers and companies can submit projects related to the research sectors supported by ASP. To submit a project simply fill in and enter the relevant application forms.
Selection criteria
Research projects should be submitted, along with one or more resumés, with references from researchers with the necessary competences.
If the Scientific Committee deems that the project is fundable ASP publishes a funding opportunity announcement on its website in order to enable other researchers to apply for the grant.
The Scientific Committee evaluates the resumés submitted and assigns the research project and related grant to the most suitable candidate.
